IRISH SPRING
Festival of Irish Folk Music 2022

The organiser Ingelheimer Kultur und Marketing GmbH describes the event as follows:

Arguably the most important spring folk festival in the country, the twentieth anniversary highlight programme will be a tried and tested home remedy to chase away the winter blues. Now a "jour fixe" for countless Irish folk fans, the festival has consistently played its way into the hearts of the audience with its claim to combine high quality with the best entertainment. On offer is a bouquet of colourful musical spring messengers between tradition and modernity, between melancholy and exuberant dancing joie de vivre.

Two of the three groups come from Brexit-stricken Northern Ireland: traditional singer Niall Hanna, accompanied by Stephen Loghran, presents soulful original pieces. Connla, now touring worldwide, fascinates with modern folk sound on acoustic instruments such as Irish bagpipes, Celtic harp, drums, flutes and intense vocals. Third in the group is accordion powerhouse David Munnelly with his quartet. Again and again, percussive tap dance interludes offer visual highlights and at the end, the grand finale with all the artists hardly keeps anyone on their seats.

If you have any questions, please contact the organiser.
