Kultursommer Opening 2025

Mainz
on 25.04.2025 to 27.04.2025

‘Forever Young?’ - under this motto, the Culture Summer Rhineland-Palatinate this year is not only about the dream of eternal youth but especially about what young and old can create and experience together. The opening festival has plenty to offer: Music will be performed by the well-known street musician Klaus der Geiger together with his young colleague Marius Peters on guitar. The fairytale “The Bremen Town Musicians” will be performed for children by the Galli Theater Mainz, while the Theater Laboratorium from Oldenburg will present its legendary version of the same tale for teenagers and adults. Many of the offered activities invite people to dance, sing along, and participate in the creation.

Johannes Gutenberg, the most famous son of the city, must not be missed in this year’s celebration of his 625th birthday: The printing of the largest Bible page in the world in Mainz attracts an entry in the Guinness Book of Records – and everyone can be there live. Additionally, the printing shop with its mobile printing press will be on-site, and both young and old can take home a self-designed piece of culture summer.

Admission to all open-air events is free; only for the indoor performances, tickets for seat reservations must be purchased for a small fee. Advance sales are expected to start at the end of February.

The detailed program will be available on www.kultursommer-eröffnung.de from the end of March 2025.
