"Simply eat well" is the motto of Gasthaus Willems in the church square in the old town of Mainz. In the middle of the winding old town alleyways, the lovingly furnished restaurant is located in a historic house dating back to 1724. The young team around owner Jan Willem Appelrath has made the issue of regionality of the products on the culinary flag. So nothing is served in the Willems, which does not come from the region. Special focus is put on the origin of the meat: Species-appropriate attitude and natural feeding are here the conditions, in order to come in the Gasthof Willems on the plate.
During the "Rheinhessen enjoy" action it becomes sweet in the Gasthaus Willems. Jan Willem Appelrath serves steamed noodle with pickled vineyard peaches and Weissburgunder sauce. He sources the peaches from the vegetable cultivation Horst Stahl in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg . For this he recommends a 2017 Pinot Blanc dry from Appenheim.
