Rheinhessen has developed in recent years through the joint work of VDP.Rheinhessen and winemakers from the region a clear local wine profile. So it has been possible to make the local wines with wine lovers interesting and to successfully transport the origin, the typicity of the soils and the value of the Rheinhessen local wines.
In 2017 MAXIME HERBUNFT RHEINHESSEN eV has formed as a new association in the region. The mission statement of the MAXIME companies is the consistent application of the three-stage classification model as a recognized, valuable and transparent classification of Rhein-Wuerttemberg's PDO wines to sharpen the regional profile. In this new profile of the region, ORTSWEINs form the high-quality middle segment in the pyramid of origins and associated values. They stand - authentic and earthy - for the typicality of the origin, for courageous winemakers and for excellent quality. They offer the early drinking fun, offer a unique price-benefit ratio and also arouse the curiosity for what is still possible in the top of the origin pyramid.
