Together with the Rheinhessen ambassadors Anja Gockel, fashion designer, and Udo van Kampen, former ZDF studio director in Brussels, the Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of State Ulrike Höfken presented the anniversary region Rheinhessen in the Rhineland-Palatinate state representation in Berlin. Around 400 guests from the worlds of politics, business and the media gathered for the traditional reception in the ministerial gardens on the eve of the International Green Week (15 to 24 January 2016). Under the motto "200 years of Rheinhessen", Rheinhessen's wine queen Sabrina Becker, Rheinhessen wine chairman Thomas Schätzel and winegrower president Ingo Steitz, at the same time vice chairman of Rheinhessen Marketing, also campaigned for the region. On the occasion of the Rheinhessen birthday, Winzersekt boss Dieter Schmahl brought the "1816" Riesling bred specially for the anniversary to Berlin. Chef Udo Lehmann provided the right basis. The event was moderated by RPR1.-reporter Andreas Kunze. The musical accompaniment of the evening was played by the Mainz Saxophone Quartet in a skilfully casual and groovy way.
