At the DLR in Oppenheim, Bernhard Degünther from the Department of Oenology has been working on a comprehensive analysis of energy consumption in winemaking since 2012. At the end of 2013, first results were published.
This research project intended to provide clear approaches to more efficient energy usage. It was realized in form of an energy-efficient cooling tower concept in a direct cooperation with a regional cellar equipment trader, which was awarded with the Sustainability Award in 2014. Here as well, Rheinhessenwein e.V., in cooperation with the energy service provider of the region, the EEA, supports the research work.
