From now on, the edition "Rheinhessen" is available free of charge in the "Blätter zur Land" series of the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Rheinland-Pfalz. The authors Volker Gallé and Gunter Mahlerwein present the 200-year history of Rheinhessen, its people, its culture and landscapes on 20 illustrated pages.
Formally proclaimed the province of the Grand Duke of Hesse-Darmstadt on July 8, 2016, the attitude of the people of Rheinhessen was long marked by mistrust of the Darmstadt government. Rheinhessen was one of the most active regions of Germany in the revolution of 1848/49. The economic boom in the late 19th century was due not least to the straightening of the Rhine and the left bank of the Rhine, which ensured transport for industrial sites in Mainz, Ingelheim and Worms. Carl Zuckmayer, Anna Seghers, Hanns Dieter Hüsch, the "Unterhaus", the Open-Ear-Festival, and the Osthofen concentration camp belong to the many well-known names associated with Rheinhessen, which the writer Anna Seghers wrote for her novel "Das 7. Cross "as a template took.

Leaves to the land
Each "sheet" is in DIN A5 format and appears in an edition of 10,000 copies. In terms of content, the series revolves around Rhineland-Palatinate, the people, the country and its history, its geography, its economy, its culture and partnerships, and not least its political foundations. Themes that you know somewhere and to which you always wanted to know more details. Short, precise texts, meaningful, partly colored photos, pictures and caricatures in an attractive layout, provide a quick, easy-to-understand but never easy access. All the essentials in focus.
