Volunteer Citizens Projects 2018

On the occasion of the International Day of Volunteering we would like to look back on the volunteer citizen projects 2018 in the LEADER region Rheinhessen today.

The call for funds for the volunteer citizens' projects of the Local Action Group (LAG) Rheinhessen once again met with great interest this year. All in all, the decision-making body of the LAG Rheinhessen was able to select eleven voluntary citizen projects in its most recent session and fully exploit the funding amount of 15,000 euros.

All submitted projects - as always with LEADER - were judged on the basis of evaluation criteria and ranked. The first eleven projects could be selected for funding.

"At this point we would like to express our thanks to all participants for their commitment and their ideas for our region," said District Administrator Ernst Walter Görisch, chairman of the LAG Rheinhessen.

Two projects for the qualification of the honorary citizen bus drivers in Eich as well as in the VG Bodenheim are included. The volunteer citizen bus drivers will complete a driving safety training with the support. This is intended to ensure a higher level of driving safety for all involved, but also to strengthen the community spirit of the volunteer group and, in addition, to attract new prospects and active citizens. The topic of mobility also includes the project "Generationsgemeinschaft Zornheim eV". Rider benches are being set up to increase local mobility and reduce short-distance passenger car traffic.

Through the promotion of volunteer citizen projects, the Wegterat des RheinTerassenWeges receive new functional jackets and vests that guarantee a uniform appearance along the entire route between Worms and Mainz and also serve as an advertising medium for the RheinTerassenWeg. In Sulzheim, the funding is to be used to upgrade the Green Classroom by purchasing a compost toilet for the extracurricular learning location. To improve living conditions for wild and other insects as well as to attract new helpers, the regional group Rheinhessen of the network Flowering Landscapes in Udenheim will hold informational events and set up information boards.

The MGV Concordiia 1898 Lörzweiler e. V. will continue to train with the promotion of communication and use of social media in the association, so as to make the association also more attractive to the younger generation and to attract new members. And the "gnomes of VG Eich" carry out a project to increase the PC mobility of senior citizens, the so-called Silver Surfer.

Further selected projects are the revaluation of the Sculpture Trail in Wallertheim, submitted by the group "Wallertheim Aktiv", the purchase of Nordic Walking poles for the participants of Nordic Walking events, submitted by the Rheinhessen Walkers and the support of the group "Leit treffe Leit" from Frei-Laubersheim for the acoustic reassurance of a community center to create the possibility of a place of communication in Frei-Laubersheim.

We thank the project promoters for their commitment and good cooperation!

The voluntary citizen projects in the LEADER Rheinhessen region were funded within the scope of the EULLE development program involving the European Union and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, represented by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture.
