The Wachenheim/Mölsheim railway station of the "Hessische Ludwigsbahn" was opened for general train traffic between Monsheim and Marnheim on 23 October 1872. In May 1901, the first express train Frankfurt-Paris travelled this strategically important east-west connection. Since the 1970s, the electrified Neustadt-Kaiserslautern line has gained in importance. As a result, the second track was dismantled and in 1984 the line was closed down completely.
