Weinheim Trift

The idea of the Royal vineyard was born by the former wine queen Julia Metzler. Thus, since 2008, every wine queen and every wine princess has been planting one Riesling vine in the vineyard.

The former wine Royalty are young women, who feel very strongly attached to their region, the winemakers and of course the wine. With the planting of the vineyard they want to set a visible sign for their commitment and their love for the region, even after having given their crown to their successors. By adding new vines every year, the vineyard constantly keeps growing. And in a few years from now, there will be enough to toast with the first truly "Royal" wine.

A special vineyard in a special location. The royal vineyard is brought to the limelight in front of the magnificent geological monument of the Weinheimer Trift and it creates an intimate connection between viticulture and geology. The Weinheim Trift makes the vineyard shine in particular splendor just at sunset and exudes an irresistible charm.

The implementation of the idea is due to the Weinheim winemakers, the city of Alzey and the town of Alzey-Weinheim. But special thanks go to the winemakers, who take care of the rearing and this living monument throughout the year.

Addition to the majesty vineyard in Alzey-Weinheim

From the rainy and windy weather, the wine majesties did not spoil the anticipation of the planting action. At this year's planting in April at the Trift in Alzey-Weinheim, the Rheinhessische Weinkönigin Sabrina Becker and the wine princesses Laura Henrici, Patricia Palums, Lisa Schauf and Kathrin Weinbach put the young Riesling grapes.

Happy harvest in the Royal vineyard in Alzey-Weinheim

The grape harvest in Rheinhessen is on the home stretch - this also applies to the Royal vineyard on the Weinheimer Trift. Rheinhessen wine queen Eva Müller and the wine princesses Andrea Böhm, Celine Feldmann, Franziska Gröhl and Romina Paukner have only been crowned for two weeks, and on the last weekend in September they were already allowed to harvest the Riesling in Royal vineyard.
