Majesty crown

How do you become Rheinhessen wine queen?

The way to the crown

It is not actually hard. First, you must be a female, at least 18 years young and in possession of a driving license of class B. Of course you should live in Rheinhessen. The most important point is that you are interested in Rheinhessen and its wines and are willing to represent them.

It is not necessary to be a winemaker's daughter, and "newcomers" have gitten the crown before. Joy, fun, élan and time for being wine queen or wine princess should be brought along.
If you have a good knowledge of wine and Rheinhessen, as well as a skillful appearance, there are best chances for a successful application.

If you are chosen, of course, a lot of time to represent on the weekend and also on weekdays necessary. This means that your employer must be in agreement with you being wine royalty. In particular, if you have been elected as wine queen, you can already expect once with up to 150 missions a year. In terms of expertise, you can read a lot. One should know the most important vinological stations in Rheinhessen. But you will also get the chance to attend some training, like a rhetorical seminar, a tour through Rheinhessen, where the topics asked on election day will be presented, and a sensory seminar, where you train nose, tongue and taste buds before the election. In addition, there will be a type and style seminar giving you advice on the right outfit. If afterwards you have any questions left, the employees of Rheinhessenwein e.V. will supply you with a lot of informatio material, which is not only important for the preparation of the election, but also helps, once you are wearing the crown and represent Geray'y largest wine growing area.

Being wine Royalty is not a paid job. However, for every mission, there is a small allowance in addition to the expenses for train ride, accommodation and food. Our sponsor "Die Rheinhessische" from Ingelheim provides the company car for the wine queen. After the election, the young ladies receive a cost allowance to make sure they have an appropriate wardrobe. And when it comes to clothes, a Dirndl is not wanted. Depending on the occasion, wine Royalty wears the classic business wardrobe, the "little black dress" or even an elegant evening dress.

After one year, the queen of each wine-growing region has the opportunity to apply for the crown of the German Wine Queen. This is then even more glorious, as you travel for the German wine throughout the world and is even more prominent contemporaries.
