No question: Jon Flemming Olsen is not only an excellent singer and multi-instrumentalist, he is also a subtle entertainer and storyteller. Even the great Reinhard Mey says about his beguilingly beautiful songs, which are completely free of ingratiation, brawn and schmaltz: “I wish there were still radio stations that played something like that.” And Olli Schulz confirms: “Jon Flemming Olsen is a fantastic musician.” That sounds good. But – who exactly is the man? For 16 years, the Hamburg native has played Olli Dittrich's congenial counterpart "Ingo" in the award-winning WDR series "Dittsche - the really real life". The fact that the TV snack bar host is actually a musician only became apparent to the public when he took part in the ESC with “Texas Lightning” and their No. 1 hit “No No Never”. But before the star hype and commercial hamster cage can really get to him, Olsen releases himself from the band he founded and takes a musical break. Apparently an important phase of discovery, because in 2014 he returns with “Immerwiederweiter”, his first solo album – without a cowboy hat and in German. In 2017, the musical free swimmer, so to speak, follows with “Von all alone”: for the first time, songs and lyrics were written exclusively by him. Olsen released his third prank, “Man on the Rope”, recorded live in front of an audience accompanied by the string quartet “Kammerensemble Konsonanz”, in the middle of the Corona year 2020 and was promptly rewarded with a nomination for the “German Record Critics’ Prize”. Jon Flemming Olsen has now completed around two hundred appearances in clubs, theaters, cabarets and festivals as a soloist. That's exactly how Olsen will now present the new songs: in their original form, as an impressive one-man band with guitars, mandolin, Irish bouzouki, foot percussion. And on this evening Jon Flemming presents his brand new album.
