On the way to Santiago de Compostela, coming from the east, the pilgrimage route leads from Frankfurt via Mainz to Worms. Coming from the north begins the "Rheinhessen" pilgrimage route in Bingen. Pilgrims can reach the Rheinhessen destination Worms on either the direct route or the alternative route with local loops. The Jakobusweg is consistently marked with the stylized scallop shell (yellow on a blue background). In addition, yellow arrows on the way indicate the exact direction of the route.
