History / Stories / Anecdotes:

Since about 1300 a Hinkelstein was mentioned here. Approximately In 1890 it was demolished according to the Monzernheimer chronicler, teacher Georg Wendel.
The old stone is to be used as a foundation in the current drywall.
The current stone comes from a large foundation in the old Osthofener road, which was uncovered at canal relocations. In addition to the stones, there were also pieces of bricks (Tegulae), which point to a Roman origin.
The name Hinkelstein was created by the corruption of the name "Hünenstein" (Hühne = Groß). This then became the "chicken stone" and finally "Hinkelstein" (chicken = in the vernacular Hinkel).
