What's going on in Rheinhessen tourism? Balance sheet and outlook of the chairman of the supervisory board and managing director

The payment

  • Tourism in Rheinhessen continues to record healthy growth. In 2014, for the second time in a row, the 1.5 million mark in overnight stays could be broken, for the first time the 900,000 wall was broken in the number of guests. Long-term growth (+ 30% overnight stays in the last 10 years / + 38% increase in guests in the last 10 years)
  • Growth in the area (circles and cities)
  • Gains in the first quarter of 2015:
    0.7% in the number of guests, 0.6% in the number of nights
  • Value added in Rheinhessen (DWIF study 2014):
    € 912 million gross turnover (day and overnight guests)
    14,000 employees earning tourism through primary income, tax revenue (VAT + income tax): € 88 million

hiking trails

  • Entry into the theme of enjoyment hiking with new hiking products "Hiwweltouren" and "RheinTerrassenWeg"
  • Great demand for the paths (both day visitors and overnight guests)
  • Sustainability of the projects guaranteed (professional management and securing of marketing means)
  • New print media on hiking in the market
  • Currently: Work on the realization of further Hiwwel tours in Rheinhessen (planned until 2017)

E-bike rental network

  • Very well functioning network of wheel manufacturer Riese & Müller, regional bike dealers, rental stations and the RHT
  • With a total of 17 rental stations (tourist information, restaurants, hotels) Rheinhessen has launched in 2014 and recorded at the end of the season a total of 556 bookings.
  • 2015: Start with 24 rental stations and 59 wheels, after 2 months already approx. 400 bookings, many already made bookings for the rest of the season can expect a successful second season

Rheinhessen 2016

  • MERIAN edition Rheinhessen will be released in November 2015 under the project management of RHT
  • June 21, 2016: int. Wine Tourism Symposium in Mainz

"Tourism Network Rheinhessen"

  • In addition to a well-functioning network with regional players Rheinhessenwein, Rheinhessen marketing, the DLR and currently with the project office 2016, RHT is currently actively working to intensify its cooperation with municipal tourism experts in order to join forces:
  • Half-yearly tourism network meeting and thematic working groups at the invitation of RHT
  • Several tourism conceptions are currently being worked on at municipal level: RHT is always an important partner in ensuring that regional topics and target group communication are the basis for the strategies and to ensure a thematic link between the region and the municipality

Update tourism strategy in spring 2016

  • Based on current market research results on the most potentially interesting topics and topics with the most opportunities. Further development of the tourism strategy in the spring of 2016
  • Community development of the tourism strategy between RHT and regional partners and involvement of the municipal level
  • Solution development for even more efficient cooperation
  • Definition of key market-oriented and target group-oriented lead projects
  • Explained goal: more quantitative and qualitative growth - more added value
