A German pilgrimage route from Worms to Wartburg Castle

Luther Way 1521

In 1521, Martin Luther was summoned to Worms to recant his theses to the emperor. He resisted and was brought to safety in Wartburg Castle while fleeing.

This important chapter in German church history can be explored today on the Luther Trail in Hesse: In 21 stages, the scenic trail leads through the wine-growing region of Rhine-Hesse, through Hesse and Thuringia to the Luther city of Eisenach.

It touches on places, churches and monasteries that are important in the history of the church. On the way, you not only experience Germany and its cultural and natural treasures, but also learn a lot about the Reformation up close. A varied route for pilgrims and hikers. The hiking guide is recommended by the Luther Trail Association.
