When you walk from the Obermarkt (Main market) through the Augustinerstaße you reach the "Atzel", a small lane with typical middle-class old town buildings dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Remarkable still is the half-timbered house with its ornamental roof and the charmingly decorated corner-stones built in 1686 before the destruction of the Palatinate War of Succession.
