In 1982, the then municipal council under local mayor Schweizer decided unanimously to acquire the vacant former farmhouse in the town center to create office space, a council chamber, a municipal archive, and space for community workers. Since then, several Gundersheim associations that did not have their own premises have benefited from the new property. In close coordination with the state office for monument preservation, the building was completed by 1986 and is a successful contribution to village renovation.
