Parts of the former village fortification wall, here with a half-shell tower, run through the town center, which was of considerable importance during the Thirty Years' War. The bell tower of the Catholic parish church is part of the complex and was originally designed as a defensive tower. Visible remains of the Gundersheim defensive wall can be seen in the streets 'Am Dorfgraben', in 'Oberen -' and 'Untere Grabenstrasse'.
