Dorschberger Hohl – Lebensraum am Löss

In the Dorschberger Hohl nature reserve, up to 15-meter-high loess walls shape an impressive landscape with semi-dry and steppe grasslands. On the steep, open slopes, rare plants such as hairy feather grass, field manseed (“steppe witch”), and the rare steppe cherry thrive.

In crevices and niches, endangered animal species like the wall lizard, the sand lizard, and the dwarf bat find food and shelter – a valuable refuge in the Rheinhessen hill country.
