The history of our winery goes back over 7 generations to the year 1770. As early as the 18th century, there was an inn on Ludwigshof. According to tradition, Johannes Bückler, also known as Schinderhannes, is said to have stopped here.
Ludwig Leonhard (*02.02.1830) managed the farm until it was taken over by my great-grandfather Wilhelm Ludwig Leonhard (*21.05.1879). As the male descendants had to leave this world very early, my grandmother Margarethe (*1915), the youngest daughter of Wilhelm Ludwig, took over the farm. She married Georg Johannes Richtarsky in 1946, who gave not only his name but also that of the winery.
The Richtarsky winery is still run today by my father Gerd Richtarsky, the youngest son of the two. I, Mario Richtarsky, completed my apprenticeship as a winemaker at the renowned teaching and research institute in Geisenheim, known far beyond the borders. There, I gained deep insights into the world of wine and participated in the latest research. Furthermore, I will continue my education both academically and professionally to skillfully integrate the knowledge into the business.
Our winery is a pure family business. All work is carried out by family members. My mother Gertrud is the "good soul" of the house and takes care of the all-important business management area as well as us and our always-welcome guests. My sister Anika studied computer science and, together with her husband Jason, keeps the computers running smoothly. Due to their technical understanding and talent, they also have a knack for other technical problems. Melanie has taken on the creative and artistic tasks with her studies in interior architecture.
Our goal is to stick to traditional viticulture so as not to lose sight of proven methods and to combine them with modern methods and practices in a sensible and progressive manner. Traditional winemaking cannot be replaced and is very important to us. We are convinced that this is also felt by our customers in our wines.
