At the "Fischerkreuz," one can relax on cozy benches after the ascent to the Wißberg with a beautiful view. But where does the name come from? Erik Fischer from Gau-Bickelheim and a colleague accepted a job to remove trees, shrubs, and hedges on a wild plot of land in Mainz-Hechtsheim. In the midst of this "wilderness," they discovered a beautiful, old wooden cross. Since the owner of the property had no interest in it, Erik Fischer took it home, restored it, and offered it to the municipality of Gau-Bickelheim. At the initiative of the local farm women and his mother, Elke Fischer, it was to be erected in the district. The plan was then implemented by the Gau-Bickelheim "Greys" on November 12, 2012. Now, another attraction adorns the Wißberg and delights all hikers from near and far.
