After a lightning strike hit an old oak tree in June 2015, falling branches knocked the statue off its pedestal and destroyed it into numerous pieces. Thanks to the restoration by the Atelier Oester, Germania could be reinstalled in 2017 for the 1250th anniversary of the municipality.
