It has been standing on the Osterberg for over 150 years. The impetus for its construction came from Sabina Lambinet (1834-1916). The devout parents Anna-Maria and Louis Lambinet built the chapel on Osterberg in 1864. Sabina and her two sisters Barbara and Katharina, who managed the Harxheim branch church of St. Laurentius starting in 1870, attended Holy Mass daily in Gau-Bischofsheim. On their way home, they would stop for a devotion at the chapel.

A wrought-iron cross with lighting has adorned the chapel since 1986. It is a creation and donation from Willi Buchert.
