ST. RUPERTUS AND ST. HILDEGARD
WITH HILDEGARD CENTER
Not far from the former monastery of St. Hildegard on the
Rupertsberg in Bingerbrück stands the Catholic Hildegard
Memorial Church. This church, built in the late 19th century,
is dedicated to St. Hildegard and St. Rupert. In keeping
with the monastery church of the Ruprecht Monastery, the
church is designed in Romanesque architectural style. Inside the church,
there is a small shrine with relics of St. Hildegard and
St. Rupert. The impressive windows in the transept of the
church depict the life and works of St. Hildegard.
Since 2019, the church has been a Hildegard Center. The church space
serves as a place for concerts and cultural events. It is
a spiritual center for pilgrims and people seeking peace and
quiet. A special feature is the “Media Church System”
(MediaKi). At a touchscreen terminal, visitors can
choose between short devotions, psalms, and songs. The choir area
and side altars are illuminated in colors to match.
In summer, you can even visit the church until 6 PM.
It is located along the Hildegard von Bingen Pilgrim Hiking Trail (Idar-
Oberstein to Bingen) & along the Ausonius Hiking Trail / Hunsrück Hiking Trail (Trier to Bingen).
