In addition to the Hildegard exhibition at the Museum am Strom, the garden displays numerous plants from the natural history ("Physica") of Hildegard of Bingen. In this collection, the Benedictine nun described nearly 300 herbs, shrubs, and trees along with their (healing) effects on humans. In the small garden, a problem is addressed at the "source fountain" that many popular writings on "Hildegard medicine" overlook: the "Physica" has only been preserved in late medieval copies, which is why no one knows the "original text" of Hildegard.
