The two mine carts belonged to the Gundersheim limestone quarries. They were used to transport the extracted stones along the route that runs here to the lime works located above the train station. The Gundersheim lime works was operated by Südzucker AG, which needed the extracted lime for the refining of beet sugar. The operation of the quarries and the lime works was gradually discontinued starting in 1955; the mine carts were still used for a while by the local construction company Bambach and were restored by the local heritage association in 2026
