Built in 1948, this was the location of the Bingen pilots until the expansion of the Middle Rhine took place in 1974. The pilot house served as an order station and accommodation for the Bingen Pilots' Association. It was constantly staffed during the day. Orders from shipping companies, post, and telegrams were delivered to passing ships by boat before the era of modern communication.
Today, the Bingen Schifferverein 1895 e.V. operates the house as a pilot museum.
