What can the app do?
In addition to classic service content (public transport/timetable information search, navigation and an overview of gastronomy, shopping, culture, sights, parking garages, hotels, and much more), the app also includes exciting virtual and augmented reality applications. This offers a completely new city app experience. Explore the traces of Gutenberg with the help of digital reconstructions, immerse yourself in Roman times, and experience life in the former Jewish quarter of Mainz's old town. With the official and free Mainz app, you can experience the highlights of the city—both on-site and from home—and stay "up to date."
With the Cardboards that turn your smartphone into a virtual reality headset, anyone can easily and affordably dive into other worlds. The Cardboards are available for a small fee of 6 euros at the Tourist Service Center Mainz.
The MAINZ app can, of course, be operated at any time without additional tools. The VR and AR content also works without the Cardboards—they simply provide a better spatial insight into the MAINZ app.
