Hidden in idyllic gardens lies the Rechenborn spring – a place with history and special significance. Before there was a modern water supply, springs were invaluable to the villages and ensured daily life.
In 1760, the Rechenborn spring received its three characteristic pipes, from which water still emerges today. According to tradition, these three pipes symbolically represent the three religions – Protestants, Catholics, and Jews – that have shaped community life in Appenheim for a long time.
