Everything began at the Seebach spring

People have been coming to this spot since the Stone Age, settling here, building houses, and cultivating the landscape.

The Seebach spring is an artesian fault spring. The water comes from deep-water reserves and could be 10,000 years old. The quality of the water at the outlet is comparable to mineral water.

The Seebach spring is the most significant and abundant spring in Rheinhessen, with a daily output of 5,000 m3 of water. The water temperature remains a constant 9 degrees.

Since ancient times, the spring area has been enclosed with iron grids. You reach a stone-lined drawing point, also referred to as a washing facility, via several steps. However, this is incorrect since this place was reserved solely for the extraction of drinking and cooking water for the surrounding households.
Occasionally, silver and copper coins shimmer at the bottom. It is said to bring luck to sacrifice something to the spring. And sometimes the boys from Seegässer had luck trying to retrieve the coin treasure. One once unearthed a silver coin bearing the image of the Virgin Mary and the year 1687.
The following pond-like expansion, the lake, was formerly used in summer as a horse watering place and for washing by laundresses, as well as for their minor conversations. The broad stepping stones still testify to their work.
