Like the winegrower cooperative, the fruit and horticultural association was also founded in 1901.
The market hall was built in two phases, completed in 1909 and 1912 respectively. It is the oldest of the historical market halls in Rheinhessen.

Above the middle gate of the older eastern part, the oval skylight is crowned by the imperial and city coat of arms. The window framing with fruit and vegetable decor emphasizes the building's function. This theme is continued in the newer extension with garland-like fruit vines above the archway (keystone 1912) and fruit baskets on pedestals on both sides of the outdoor staircase.

The neo-baroque, plaster building shaped by Art Nouveau bears witness to the flourishing of special crops and the economic prosperity of the community at the beginning of the 20th century.

Since 1978, the hall has been owned by the city and is used for events.
