A "menhir" (Breton for "long stone") is a prehistoric monolith. The "Long Stone" is considered the largest of its kind in Rheinhessen and dates back to the Neolithic. It is made of rhyolite from the Donnersberg and presumably served as a cult, boundary, and orientation point. For thousands of years, legends have surrounded it, and to this day it marks the boundary between Saulheim, Udenheim, and Wörrstadt.
