The term refers to the village pond, centrally located in the town, which was used as a cattle trough, a fire extinguishing pond, in summer as a horse pond and of course by ducks and geese. Around 1868 the Weed was vaulted after two peacetime linden trees were planted here during the 1870/71 war. In the early days, the village square with the village effe (elm) or court linden tree, a place for festivals, meetings and courts, was also located in this area.
