Deeply rooted like the wine, the Schmitt family is in Nierstein. Since 1618, the knowledge of viticulture has been passed down from generation to generation. Modern ideas and years of experience are reflected in our wines.
Our aim is to produce wines with a clear profile that showcase not only the natural aromatic diversity of the grapes but also the soil, the location, and the climate. The focus here is on the sites of the Niersteiner Roter Hang, an impressive formation of 280 million-year-old red clay slate, which creates ideal conditions for Riesling cultivation directly along the Rhine. A special wine is made already in the vineyard. Meticulous handwork and a sense of nature are needed to cope with the challenges of each vintage. Gentle handling of grapes and must, as well as calm and thoughtful actions in the cellar, refine our wines. The Julianenhof winery is a member of the association "Wein am Roten Hang e.V.".
