History / Stories / Anecdotes:
Irmgard Hirschel-Urnauer read in the Catholic church newspaper that women from Wörrstadt donated a cross to the community. After some consideration and a discussion with carpenter Klaus Dieter Ring regarding whether he could implement such a project, she decided to donate a similar cross to the community of Westhofen. She visited the cross in Wörrstadt and spoke with the local mayor Fehlinger to see if the project would be supported by the community.
A suitable location was sought. It needed to be elevated and prominently visible. Additionally, it had to be on community-owned land. Ultimately, the choice fell on the district "Am Hinkelstein".
The cross was made by the carpentry shop Ring and erected on November 15, 2013. Afterwards, Irmgard Hirschel-Urnauer donated the cross to the community of Westhofen.
