The village ditch in Wörrstadt is a valuable heritage from the Middle Ages. First mentioned in the 13th century as "Zingele," with its rich tree population, it is a worthy green lung in today's urban area. As a vegetated defense, the ditch enclosed the entire village area until the beginning of the 19th century. Until the 1980s, the ditch was mostly planted with centuries-old elm trees, also known as Effen. They all fell victim to the elm bark beetle and were replaced by other tree species. Since spring 2015, young elm saplings are once again visible. It is a resistant species of elm that is now being planted in replantings.
