In the confessional, wine takes center stage. The traditional wine tavern in the southern old town of Mainz has been preserved in its original state from 1910, bringing a piece of Mainz's wine tavern culture to the table today.
Alongside the wine, regional specialties from artisanal production are served, including Mainz ham, Handkäs and Spundekäs, warm meat sausage, oven-baked camembert, quiches, as well as sausage and cheese platters. In selecting the products, the confessional collaborates with inclusion businesses whenever possible.
It becomes unusually small when culture is on the program: Events in a living room format regularly take place on a stage only two square meters in size, accommodating a maximum of 30 guests.
The confessional itself is designed as an inclusion project and offers internship positions to people with disabilities, creating a natural convergence of wine, regional cuisine, culture, and lived participation in the historic wine tavern.
