In the heart of Mainz, the State Theatre is a vibrant meeting place for artistic and social engagement. A special focus is on the young State Theatre "justmainz." All genres produce pieces for children and young people, and the ensemble is passionately involved in these productions. Cultural education and participation are promoted through a diverse program for all age groups, close cooperation with schools and kindergartens, and numerous theatre education offerings. Especially in contemporary children's music theatre, the opera division sets important accents with its own composition commissions.
Accessibility is a top priority at the State Theatre: Wheelchair users can easily access the building via a well-paved ramp and automatically opening outside doors. Access routes, ticket offices, and accessible restrooms are designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
The dance division "tanzmainz" works contemporary and internationally. By collaborating with renowned choreographers from around the world, the ensemble attracts outstanding and versatile dancers to the Rhine. The "tanzmainz festival," first held in 2015, quickly became a regionally significant event and made Mainz an important destination for dance enthusiasts.
