Over 30 exhibitors present minerals, fossils, gemstones, and what can be made from minerals over 2 days. In discussions with collectors and association members, the latest information about locations, preparation, and identification methods, etc. will be exchanged. Special Exhibition The Natural History Museum Mainz presents finds from the Mainz Basin in the special exhibition "Sharks, Manatees, Oyster Reefs. The Mainz Basin 30 Million Years Ago". Lectures/Demonstrations On Saturday, October 10, at 2:00 p.m., Mr. Kai Nungesser, responsible for the special exhibition, will give you an insight into the time when Rheinhessen was located on the shores of a subtropical sea. On Sunday at 3:00 p.m., a "Gold Panning" demonstration will take place outdoors. There you can experience how gold is still found today in local rivers. Further Activities The Georgius Agricola Association, as the organizer, offers a diverse program: • We are ready at a rock saw to professionally cut your finds • Exhibitors will offer the opportunity to crack open geodes • We again offer amber polishing for children daily from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. • Throughout the opening hours, children can participate in a quiz to identify rocks and win a mineral or fossil as a prize. • In the mineral tombola, at least every tenth visitor with their ticket wins a mineral, gemstone, or fossil. • The association's cafeteria will again spoil you with food, drinks, and homemade cakes. Admission is €2.00; children under 14 have free entry and receive a stone as a gift at the entrance. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in the hall. Subject to change.
