In cooperation with the Bernhard Foundation Nierstein, the Protestant Church Community Oppenheim invites you to a special cultural and memorial afternoon on Sunday, September 27, 2026,.
The event begins at 4.00 p.m. with a lecture at the Martin Luther House (Am Markt 10, directly below the Katharinenkirche). Under the title “Albert Schweitzer – ‘A Torchbearer for Our Dark Times…’” the Schweitzer expert Dr. Gottfried Schüz from the German Albert Schweitzer Center Frankfurt am Main will illuminate the life and thoughts of the famous jungle doctor, theologian, philosopher, organist, and Nobel Peace Prize winner, whose ethic of “reverence for life” is particularly relevant in the face of increasing threats from wars, pervasive violence, and the destruction of nature.
After this, at 6.00 p.m., the church community invites you to a concert in the Katharinenkirche. Francesco Cardelli, this year's winner of the Albert Schweitzer Organ Prize, will perform.
Admission to both events is free. A suitable donation to support cultural work is requested.
