Signalbox technology comes alive

The old signal box Armsheim Nord (An) will open its doors for the last time this year on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
And there is again much new to see: earlier original signal box lamps could be mounted on the newly designed information boards in the tensioning room. New - old STOP light signals are on display, with their meaning and operation explained. In addition to the one old station clock that was already there, several more old original station clocks were acquired and connected to a "master clock," allowing the clocks to function together now.

It is definitely worth a visit to the old signal box to learn how the 120-year-old Stahmer signal box technology still works today and what a pointsman had to do to ensure that a train could safely travel to Bingen or Mainz.

A tour of the signal box is only possible with a guided tour. The tours begin every half hour and on the hour. The first tour starts at 1 p.m., and the last tour at 3:30 p.m. The tours are free of charge.

We are grateful for donations for the preservation of the old signal box and its development into an interactive museum.
