Dokumentarfilm "DAS GEWICHT DER WELT"

Documentary film "THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD"

The film tells the story of glaciologist Maria, physical chemistry professor Sebastian, and molecular biologist Nana. All three are confronted with the massive consequences of climate change in their work. They experience that it's not enough to hand over data sets of their climate research to politics, media, or other societal actors in the hope that they will do the right thing. They leave the lab, take on social responsibility, and seek new ways between education, public engagement, and protest. The camera is very close and captures the protagonists' moral dilemma.

The film offers a fresh, uplifting perspective on climate change from the viewpoint of scientists. We can learn from them how to face the existential challenges of the 21st century without breaking apart.
