Freundschaft statt Hass - Demokratie vor Ort

On September 15, 2026, Volker Gallé will explain in his lecture "Friendship Instead of Hate – More Democracy on Site" in the first part the difference between friendship as an attitude of democracy and enmity as an attitude of ethnic culture.
He sketches historical examples from the early history of democracy during the Enlightenment of the 18th century to the present. In the second part of the lecture, he reports on strategies to enhance the experience of democracy on site through increased participation in municipalities, e.g., through citizen budgets and strengthening civil society volunteering.
Here, not only best-practice examples can be referenced, but also an existing diversity of initiatives in the areas of social issues, culture, education, sports, environmental protection, and economic life, which together are not only more concrete than right-wing propaganda but also clearly in the majority.
