Fünf Jahre Hubertusmesse in der Oppenheimer Katharinenkirche

Oppenheim
on 25.10.2026 at 17:00 o'clock

On Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 5 p.m., when the sounds of hunting horns fill the Oppenheimer Katharinenkirche, there will be double the reason to celebrate this year: For the fifth time, the ecumenical Hubertus Mass will take place in the Katharinenkirche. At the same time, the Jagdhorn Academie Rhein-Main-Taunus, which has been musically involved in the service for years, reflects on its ten-year anniversary.

The Hubertus Mass commemorates Saint Hubertus, the patron saint of hunters. However, it is about more than just preserving hunting traditions: the service also addresses humanity's responsibility towards nature, animals, and the preservation of creation.

The sermon will be delivered by the Protestant pastor Dennis Klose. The liturgy will be shaped by the pastor of the Protestant parish Oppenheim, Eric Bohn, and the leading pastor of the Catholic parish Resurrection of Christ Rhein-Selz, Thomas Catta.
The characteristic sound of the Hubertus Mass will be provided by the Jagdhorn Academie Rhein-Main-Taunus and friends under the direction of Annette Roos, as well as the brass group Hörnerklang, led by Harald Strohm. Playing the organ is Propsteikantor Ralf Bibiella.

The collection from the service this year will benefit, at the request of the hunters, the Katharinenkirche Oppenheim Foundation. The foundation was established in 2025 and supports the preservation of the Katharinenkirche.
