The Christophorus-Hof in Mainz-Hechtsheim
- Rheinhessian diversity meets creative winemaker -
To conclude the series "Hechtsheim and its female winemakers," we will visit the Christophorus-Hof on Thursday, July 16, 2026. This winery, located in the heart of Mainz-Hechtsheim, has been operated by the oenologist Simone Schmitt-Rieth since 2009. The small but fine winery, covering about 7 hectares of cultivation area, offers a variety of award-winning wines.
The cultural and wine ambassador Jörg-Michael Meschkat will first guide the guests along the more than 800-year-old vineyard in Kirchenstück that evening, providing detailed information about wine production. During the tour in the vineyard, there will be a tasting of a wine from the Christophorus-Hof. At the end of the tour, we will then take a break at the Christophorus-Hof. Here, the winemaker Simone Schmitt-Rieth will introduce her winery in detail. During the presentation, there will be a tasting of 4 additional wines accompanied by a small snack.
The cost for this tour is 28 euros per person (in advance). The number of participants is limited to a total of twenty guests.
