Mythology in the Castle Park: Wine Sculpture Tour in Herrnsheim
In cooperation with the Friends of the Castle and Park Herrnsheim, the cultural and
wine ambassadors invite you to an informative stroll around Castle Herrnsheim.
Both the family of the Kämmerer von Worms known as von Dalberg, who built the facility starting in 1460,
and the later owners, the family of the Freiherren von Heyl zu Herrnsheim, who owned the
castle from 1883 until its sale to the city of Worms in 1958, were very interested in art.
True to the motto "Pimp my castle," they successively beautified their castle and the adjacent park
with various sculptures. Some of these are still preserved today in their original form or as replicas.
On a tour along the Herrnsheimer Castle and through the surrounding
English landscape garden, which was laid out according to the plans of the famous garden architect Friedrich Ludwig
von Sckell, there is much historical, mystical, anecdotal, and interesting information to share about these sculptures.
The tour is rounded off optionally with two glasses of wine or
non-alcoholic grape juice.
The meeting point for the tour is at 11:00 AM at the Rhenus Fountain in the courtyard of Castle Herrnsheim
(Herrnsheimer Hauptstraße 1, 67550 Worms).
Parking:
Official castle parking lot "Fahrweg 2, 67550 Worms" and along the street "Fahrweg" (about 5
minutes’ walk from the castle). Parking is not permitted in the courtyard!
Travel by public transport:
Bus Line 408: Stop Richard-Knies-Straße Ost. Distance: about 400 m (5 min walk)
Bus Line 407: Stop Herrnsheim Park. Distance: about 500 m (6 min walk)
Weatherproof clothing and sturdy footwear are required.
The participation fee is 30 EUR including a wine glass, a wine glass holder to hang around your neck, and wine or juice, of which 5 EUR will
be donated to the Friends of the Castle.
