Night at the Museum
“Everything dark? Everything colorful!”
Flashlight tour for families
When it's dark outside, we explore Roman highlights in the deserted museum at the Imperial Palace by torchlight. We examine the elegant, once multicolored clothing of the Roman woman “Prima,” wonder where Roman glass vessels get their bright blue color, and learn about the function and significance of the “ancient flashlight.” Our beam of light and a keen eye also give us clues that centuries later, Charlemagne admired the Romans for their colorful buildings. You are welcome to bring your own flashlights.
