Nina's Rusty Horns

Nina's Rusty Horns are dedicated to early New Orleans jazz with all its grit and charm. They perform forgotten repertoire from old blues ladies like Bessie Smith, Georgia White, Merline Johnson, or Memphis Minnie - the original, pulsating dance music that is still played in the bars of this city just like back then. Rare pieces are unearthed, roughly dusted off, and presented with much love. Expressive and quirky, singer and band leader Nina Lentföhr interprets the old treasures with her bluesy timbre, while the tight rhythm section of the Rusty Horns drives the swinging clockwork and the brass players weave their rusty carpet of collective solos. In this way, more and more original songs in the old style come together naturally. Nina's Rusty Horns have plenty of danceable pieces in their repertoire and many very earthy songs that always tell a good story. And if an antiquated German hit finds its way into the program, it still feels right at home.
