The carnival icon Margit Sponheimer reads from her autobiography I was born on Rose Monday.
She talks about her childhood in the post-war years in Frankfurt and Mainz,
the establishment of her parents' business, her apprenticeship years in Mainz, amusing experiences
on and behind the stage, famous colleagues like Toni Hämmerle and Ernst Neger,
but also about strokes of fate. Margit Sponheimer provides insights not only into her
successful carnival career but also into her acting career at the Frankfurt People's Theater
and in the Unterhaus in Mainz.
Margit Sponheimer was born in 1943 in Frankfurt. She now lives in Ober-Olm.
She became known mainly through her performances in Mainz Carnival. With her songs, she has
enthused a million-strong audience. She has received numerous honors. In February 2018, she
was made an honorary citizen of the city of Mainz.
